Mystery Quilts

Standard

At the Mystery Quilt Retreat, we all do the same quilt but they all have a very different look and it is amazing to see them at the end of the weekend. All the pieces are cut for us and we put them together based on each clue as we get it to create blocks and then the blocks are put together so that we can see the end product. I really enjoy these retreats and hope we do another one next year.

5. Eat Healthier

6. Set up a budget and save more

7. Finish 2 rugs

8. Scrap quilt

9. 2013 Mystery Quilt

12. Portable Chalkboard, Stocking, Training Pants for Grandson

13. Tree Skirts: Valentine, Fall, Mardi Gras & Patriotic

I have already started on some of these but I will have to go next weekend and find a new camera so I can work on pics for my Etsy shop and I need to find some type of storage items to work on organizing the house and sewing area.

I spent yesterday setting up my Weebly and Linkin sites and got a lot of cleaning done.

12 Days of Gingerbread: Day 7

This is a set of mug rugs that I downloaded from Oma’s Place.  I still have one more left to do but run out of spray adhesive. They are made up of canvas, quilt batting and cotton fabric.  I think its time for a new camera. These pics look blurry too.

Liebster Award nomination

Standard

Many thanks to my new blogging friend http://thek9harperlee.wordpress.com for nominating my blog for the Liebster Award.  This You should click on the link to her blog and read the amusing reflections of a Golden Retriever.

  1. I must list 11 things about myself.
  2. I must answer the 11 questions asked of me by my nominator.
  3. I must nominate 11 other bloggers who have less than 200 followers and link them in my post.
  4. I must list 11 questions for my nominees to ponder and answer.
  5. I must go to my nominees’ pages and tell them they were nominated.

Step 1: 11 things about myself

  5. Are you house trained? pretty much
  6. Do you drool? maybe in my sleep lol

Star Trip Quilt

Star Trip Quilt

I started this quilt quite a few years ago and just picked it back up. I think if I had realized how many seams there were to match up that I would have never finished cutting it out. I think after this quilt I will stick to throw or twin size quilts. This one about wore me out lol.

Weekend Retreat

Standard

ImageImageImage   I just got home from spending the weekend at the Judson Baptist Retreat Center in Jackson, LA.  If you want to undwind and unplug from technology, this is the place to be. There is no television, no internet and very little phone service.  If you want to talk on the phone then you have to go walk around outside until you find a spot with service and stay still in that one spot.  The staff are so nice and the food is pretty good. If you go home hungary it is your own fault.

I have been here several times in the past but this is the second time this year.  Pamela Grigsby with Fabric Krazy Quilt Shop in Baton Rouge  planned and organized a mystery quilt retreat back in February and we had about 20 people but this time we only had around 15 people and you could bring whatever project you wanted to work on.  We had quilters and rug hookers at this retreat.  I made a Chubby Charmer Bag and worked on my Star Trip Quilt that I started a long time ago and will post at a later date.
